Your Weight Loss Journey in Turkey
From arrival to your flight home, we organise every step of your journey to make it as safe and comfortable as possible. Here is what to expect during your stay in Antalya.
Arrival in Antalya
When you arrive at Antalya Airport (AYT), your driver meets you at the terminal exit, holding a sign with your name on it. The transfer to the hospital takes around 30 minutes.
At the hospital, your English-speaking interpreter welcomes you. After registration, you go to your room together. Your blood is taken, an ECG is carried out and a cannula is fitted, and you then complete the consent forms for your operation.
Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight, as your operation takes place the next day.
Your Operation
Your pre-operative assessment starts in the morning. You have an abdominal ultrasound and a chest X-ray, followed by consultations with specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, anaesthesia and psychiatry. Your dietitian also carries out a body composition analysis. After these examinations, you meet your surgeon, who runs the final checks and explains your operation.
The operation is performed under general anaesthetic. During the operation, a drain is placed in your abdomen. Afterwards, you return to your room, where you are closely monitored. Around 4 to 6 hours later, you can walk with the help of a nurse.
Recovery Begins
In the morning, your surgeon visits you. As a safety check, a leak test is carried out using a special liquid. At the midday visit, your surgeon removes the drain from your abdomen. You can now drink water and take a shower. Water and apple juice are provided with every meal, and soup is on the evening menu.
The first day after your operation is important for a fast recovery, so drink plenty of fluids and take short walks often. Walking also helps ease bloating and trapped wind, which are common after surgery.
Moving to Your Hotel
In the morning, your surgeon visits you. Once satisfied with your recovery, you are discharged.
Before you leave the hospital, you are given your vitamin and protein supplements, the medications you need to take at home and your medical documents. You also receive detailed dietary advice from your dietitian. You are then transferred from the hospital to your hotel.
Our partner hotel is close to Konyaalti beach and the shopping centres. You can spend the day resting in your room, or go out and enjoy the city.
Returning Home
You are transferred from the hotel to Antalya Airport 3 hours before your flight. Hotel check-out is at 12:00. If your flight is later in the day, you can leave your luggage at reception and go out, or spend time in the lobby.
Your aftercare starts as soon as you are home. You can contact us with any questions, from dietary advice to your recovery and medications.
